Week Thirty-Four: Mawaige

Mawaige. Mawaige is what bwings us togever today. I dont know if you all know this but a pre-requisite to being baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that if you are living with your partner, you have to be legally married.

That happens to be a HUGE problem here because people here love to cohabitate. Also, it is really freaking hard to get married here. You need a TON of documents and only the mayor can do it. Its not like on Friends where Joey can print a document of the computer and then marry a couple.

We have two sisters named Bani and Cesi that have been listening to the missionaries for more than a year but havent been able to be baptized because their boyfriends work really far away and only come once in a blue moon with no heads up.

This week, they showed up out of the blue and we have been running around like animals taking out documents, seeing judges, making phone calls, etc.

Cesi got married Fri and Bani tomorrow and they both get baptized Sat. And we will all live happily ever after.
